Welcome to the Beechworth Chamber of Commerce
Beechworth & District Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc. (BDCCI) is an incorporated association and established to act as a body to represent the interests of commerce and industry within the Beechworth and district area. The Beechworth Chamber of Commerce supports business activites of all sectors and is a community resource.
Beechworth is situated within the Indigo Shire and has a population of 3,227 people. The town is of national heritage significance making it a popular destination for visitors and tourists to the north east region. Beechworth has a legacy of grand buildings and street details such as granite stone gutters.
A significant number of businesses in the town benefit either directly or indirectly from the tourist dollar. Up to 600,000 tourists visit Beechworth annually and on a regional level, the area attracts 1.3 million domestic overnight visitors per annum, representing 10% of the Victorian market share. The town’s many retail outlets, restaurants and accommodation providers primarily derive their income through tourism.
Beechworth also plays an important role as a service centre for the nearby Stanley and Wooragee townships that primarily rely on agribusiness and agricultural pursuits. It is centrally located between the larger regional centres of Albury-Wodonga and Wangaratta, making Beechworth an attractive tree change and lifestyle destination.
To ensure Beechworth’s ongoing viability the BDCCI must be strategic in its approach to ensure the town remains a preferred tourist destination, which in turn leads to a healthy and vibrant community. Beechworth’s main competitors in North East Victoria are within a 100-kilometre radius and are also extremely active in promoting their territory.
